It was a pleasure to meet with Michelle Jordan, Executive Director of @arcindianacounty this week. Michelle was in Harrisburg for the Arc of Pennsylvaniaโs Advocacy and Policy Day at the Capitol to advocate for the intellectual disability community. The Arc of Indiana County has been dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families for 50 years.
#Advocacy is important, and I appreciated the opportunity to discuss the budget, funding Direct Staff Professional rate increase, home-based community services along with several other issues of concern. Thank you for taking the time to visit!

Thank you to PHCA for inviting me to speak at their 2024 Legislative Conference. Last week, the #PASenate advanced two bipartisan bills to update training procedures and remove employment barriers so more people can join the long-term care workforce.
In addition to keeping state spending in check, the final state budget enacted last year included critical support for EMS, hospitals and nursing homes. As our work continues on the 2024-2025 state budget, support for Pennsylvaniaโs most vulnerable older residents will remain an area of focus. Thank you to the advocates who came to Harrisburg to share the importance of long-term care across the Commonwealth.
Pennsylvaniaโs fastest growing demographic is adults aged 80 and older and by working together we can help to increase access to quality care throughout our communities!

Please join me in welcoming Abbie Huey as an intern in my Indiana district office! This week she came to Harrisburg to gain a better understanding of the legislative process and experience the Senate in session. Abbieโs future aspirations include working in government and potentially attending law school after she finishes college.
Abbie is a graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School and has been actively involved in her community, as a waitress, team captain, and volunteer at the Chevy Chase Community Center. She recently completed her freshmen year at Georgetown University where she is pursuing a bachelorโs degree in government, is a member of the Georgetown Track and Field team and has proven herself to be an accomplished sprinter, receiving all-conference honors.
Abbie is a great addition to our team, and we look forward to the contributions she will make in helping to serve constituents this summer!

As we continue working to address significant policy issues and the 2024-2025 state budget this month, @pasenategop are committed to keeping Pennsylvania on a path of fiscal responsibility.
Increasing access to maximum wage, family sustaining #jobs is key to creating greater growth and opportunities across #Pennsylvania. Regulatory reforms and higher education reforms are also a critical part of preparing for current and future #workforce needs.

It was a great honor to be invited to serve as the keynote speaker for Applewold Boroughโs 125th Anniversary celebration on Saturday! I enjoyed taking part in the parade through town and presenting Mayor Gretchen Dosch with a Senate citation recognizing this momentous occasion.
The Borough of Applewold was founded by the Applewold Land Company and was initially settled by industrialists and merchants from across Armstrong County. Throughout itโs rich history, the Borough has been blessed with dedicated civic leaders who have helped it to grow and flourish. Best wishes for another 125 years and thank you for having me!

I was honored to attend and speak at the press conference announcing @indianaregional purchase of Mack Park from the J.S. Mack Foundation! It was a pleasure to recognize and personally thank the many members of our community who helped to make this project a reality. This is a great initiative that will benefit families and businesses, while promoting the longevity of an integral piece of Indiana County.
The purchase ensures the Indiana County Fair will continue at this location. It further guarantees the park will be well maintained and remain an asset to the #localcommunity. Operations of Mack Park Pool will remain with the YMCA of Indiana County.

I recently had the honor of attending a dedication ceremony for a new playground area at Lenape Elementary School in Ford City. The playground recognizes the โDrugs Kill Dreamsโ program that has been in place for the last 24 years in Armstrong County.
This wonderful program was the vision of Magisterial District Judge, J. Gary DeComo to promote prevention and distribute educational materials to schools and community organizations with the goal of stopping drug and alcohol addiction and abuse while encouraging our youth to live healthy, respectful, and responsible lives.
I applaud Judge DeComoโs commitment and tireless efforts over the years in service to the community along with the many folks who collaborated to bring this playground project to fruition โ well done!
